Welcome to Our Dojo!

Our Dojo was founded in 1976 and is now one of the largest Adult Dojo’s in Central New Jersey with over 120 adults training here. Our classes are not only for adults, we also have an outstanding children’s program that earned us the prestigious New Jersey (C.A.P.) Children’s Assault Prevention Award in 1998.

Our record is one we are quite proud of because it is built on hard work. Our Dojo is different in that we take beginning students only twice a year, March and September. This allows our Instructors the opportunity to direct a lot of attention to where it is needed… to you, the beginner! We want your involvement in the Martial Arts to be a safe and lifelong positive experience.

How much does it cost to join and do I have to join today?
We charge the low cost of just $25 a week for beginners and you pay every two months. You don't have to pay for extra classes because they are FREE. There is no pressure gimmicks to sign up, go home and talk about it. Are we providing what you want from the Art. Call any other school and compare our program to theirs. During these tough financial times, I am offering free classes to beginners to help you decide! Can't beat that!

A list of frequently asked questions
Below, I have listed questions that most school owners prefer you not ask. There are many ways to divert your attention when you do ask one of these questions, basically to steer you away from the bottom line, cost. I don't allow gimmicks or sales tricks, what you see is what you get! Our program sells itself.

Is one martial art sytle better than another?
Naturally, we feel ISSHINRYU KARATE is the premier method for any martial artist, but it gets down to the way it is taught. Do you like the way the Instructor teaches, do you like the workouts. Is the Instructor simply "showing off" or does he or she really know how to explain what the moves are about. We try to "layer" the knowledge out in a "simple to complex" format. We don't dwell on just one strength, we develope the entire body for defense in Isshinryu Karate.

Do you have a refund policy?
YES! If you or if it is a child in the program and they drop out, you will receive your money back for the remaining weeks in the 2 month time period that you paid for. Check any of our competitors for their refund policy!!

How much do you charge for enrollment fees and testing fees?
There are no charges for belt testing at our school, period. Our registration fee is just $30 each September. Compare that with some schools looking for $500 to $1000 up front money and they usually don't refund that if you drop out!

Can I watch my child participate in class?
YES! I encourage you to watch any and all classes that are convenient to your schedule. You should know and see and hear what is going on during class. Your presence in class does not distract the child, in most cases they enjoy "showing" their Mom or Dad or Grandparent what they can do!

What happens if my child misses class, do I still pay for it?
Yes, the reason for the free classes is to provide adequate training time for all students. During a 2 month timeframe of classes, you are paying for 8 classes and you actually have access to 16 classes! It would be a bookkeeping nightmare to adjust to every student's schedule. If you miss 2 or more classes, you will receive one on one training to bring you up to date with your group! We leave no one behind.

How do we know if there is class on inclement days?
Call me at 908-561-6464 after 12pm and a recorded announcement will notify you if class has been cancelled or not due to any snow/storm conditions.

Who do I call if I have any questions?
Call me any morning at 908-561-6464. You do not have to talk to any office manager or someone who does not know what is going on with your child or the classes, talk to me, the owner of the school! If I am not available, leave a message and I will get back to you before the end of the day.
