Dojo Newsletter

Our Dojo logo has the Chi symbol as its focal point. A message that speaks of the importance of your internal energy, not of your punching & kicking prowess! The 3 stars reflect the three areas of growth that you will experience in the Art: physical growth, mental growth and spiritual growth. The colors of red, white and blue speak for themselves!

    Children's Kata Tournament
Our school hosted a FREE kata tournament just for kids on May 28 and over 100 kids competed in front of their happy parents. What better way to experience the fun of competing and not spending $50 to $60 and wasting a good portion of the day. Our event lasted 90 minutes and we gave out over 40 trophies over 4 foot tall and two 6 foot Grand Champ trophies. My thanks for good friends Master Don Nash, Master Dennis Hoare, Master Brian Fitzgerald and Master Ed Westling for bringing their kids. Master Jack Atwell was our floor coordinator and a special thanks to the donors of the trophies, Black Belts Jim Kemp, Heather Fuenzalida and Tony Palitto.

    New IsshinryuTeam Champions!!
They say if you want to be the best, you have to fight the best. In tribute to the ladies of the Tennessee team, they were great champions, but our ladies team won a decisive victory over the Tennessee team at the Don Nagle's 50 Anniversary Tournament in Bayonne yesterday. Our champions are, Captain Heather Fuenzalida, MaryBeth Krupa, Darlene Drexinger, Ashley Murray and Cheryl Ambicki and alternate Petra Hoskovec. The fighting was crisp, clean and our gals were not to be denied! I congratulate all the fighters from our men's and women teams. You took your fighting to the next level. The mens team from Tennessee is to be congratulated for their strong victory. There were seven teams in the mix this year and our team led by Chris Van Houten gave a tough fight in the finals.
